Dr. Rob Shoaff Leads Discipleship Conference in Costa Rica

News

Grayson, Kentucky-This summer, Dr. Rob Shoaff, Dean of the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry and Assistant Professor of Intercultural Studies at Kentucky Christian University, traveled to Heredia, Costa Rica to lead a Discipleship Conference with representatives from nine Central and South American nations. The conference, themed “Impact 2024: Fruit to Root,” focused on the transformative power of Christ in our lives and ministries.

Leaders from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Argentina, The Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Guatemala, Chile, and the United States gathered for the conference, which was organized by the mission organization Feed the Crave. Dr. Shoaff, who has been collaborating with Shaun Splechter, Executive Director of Feed the Crave, for a decade, has witnessed the spread of discipleship movements across multiple countries.

During his time in Costa Rica, Dr. Shoaff not only led the conference but also had the opportunity to preach at a church in the mountain town of Poas, visit Life Groups (Grupo de Vida), and participate in the ministry of Christ’s City Church in Heredia, led by Minister Jose Palma.

The conference aimed to guide leaders towards dependence on Christ and shared leadership, emphasizing the Supremacy of Christ in all aspects of life. Through introspection and envisioning growth through Christ, participants were inspired to renew their lives, change their perspectives, and return home motivated to put their newfound knowledge into practice.

Dr. Shoaff’s trip to Costa Rica exemplifies the commitment of Kentucky Christian University and Feed the Crave to fostering discipleship movements and empowering leaders across Central and South America.
